![]() Back ground resumme Stuart Ross Moorhouse Stuart Ross Moorhouse, known as Ross because his father was also called Stuart, was born in Nelson, New Zealand in the closing days of 1942. Nelson situated at the top of the South Island of New Zealand is an ideal place to be raised as a child. Tahuna Beach close to the city, the sheltered waters of the Abel Tasman National Park with its golden sand beaches, the Lakes National Park with its fresh water lakes surrounded by mountains and the Kahurangi National Park, pristine native bush without any roads that extends from Golden Bay through to the West Coast of New Zealand, a true wilderness. Ross grew up participating in out door activities, camping, trekking, fishing and boating the sheltered waters of Tasman Bay. With his fathers help he built a 3m sailing dinghy when 13 years old which lead to a lifetime interest in sailing and ownership of a number of small boats, much weekend sailing and a few coastal voyages. Ross’s working career (25 years) was in agricultural where he was employed by the New Zealand Ministry of Agriculture as an animal breeding consultant. This field of work lead him to travel extensively both within New Zealand and internationally. However his dream from earlier years of a long ocean voyage on a small yacht still lies in the future. Currently he is resident in Arica, Chile where together with his wife (a Chilean National) they operate a hostal for international travelers. |
